CHURCH SERVICES
Colonel Grattan, the chief secretary of the Salvation Army’s work for New Zealand, will conduct the morning service at the Army Citadel tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock. The Colonel is a most fluent speaker, and he will be supported in this service by cadets from the Army’s Training College at Wellington. The evening service will be conducted by Major Mahaffie, and he will also have the assistance of the cadets. The Major will take for his subject, “The Need of Spiritual Vision.” All are heartily invited to these services. On Sunday the preacher at St. Matthew’s Church, both in the morning and evening, will be the Rev. T. V. Pearson. There will be a service as usual at Kuripuni in the evening. Special services tomorrow will mark the anniversary of the Masterton Methodist Church. The Rev Frederick J. Parker will be the preacher for the day, the subjects being: “The Church of Today” and “The Aggression of the Church.” The music will be in keeping with the celebrations. At the morning service the talented junior choir will sing special numbers. At the evening services the soloists will be Miss Doreen Jamieson and Mr L. D. Wales, while the senior choir will render two anthems, “Lead, Kindly Light,” and “Sing to the Lord.” All old members and residents are specially invited to. attend in view of the historic nature oi\ the services. The church anniversary social will be held on Monday evening, when reports and a musical programme will be presented and a short address given by Mr G. G. Hancox, M.A., M.Sc. At the Kuripuni Methodist Church tomorrow the morning service will be taken by Pastor C. H. Skuse, now of Trinity College, Auckland, and one time pastor of the church. At G. 50 p.m, cars will leave for the town church. The Methodist Church service at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Mount Bruce will be conducted by the Rev. Fred. J. Parker.
