SATURDAY’S RUGBY. LOCAL TEAMS SELECTED. 1 (“Times-Age” Special.) The Carterton seniors to play Gladstone at Carterton on Saturday will be as follows:—Harp, Thompson, Brown, Loader, Fitzgerald, Holmes, Reading, Lipinski, Smith, Rasmussen, Matheson, Trass, Crawley, Taucher, Walker, Alexander. The following is the Carterton junior team to play Martinborough, at Martinborough: — Oliver, Moorcock, Blake (2), Geange, Warrington (2), Corlett, McPhee, Hurley, Groube, Steffert, Walker, Braggins, Deller (2), Adams. Personal. Mr H. T. Leete, senior assistant teacher at the Carterton District High School, will act as headmaster of the local school until a successor js appointed in Mr Fossette’s place. Mr I. Hills, of Wellington, will act as relieving assistant master. Farewell Sermon. The Rev Ralph Byers, who has accepted a call to St Alban’s Presbyterian Church, Christchurch, will preach his farewell sermon at St Andrew’s Church on Sunday evening. After church the congregation will adjourn to the Presbyterian Hall where a farewell gathering will be held. Church Services. The Church <of England services at Longbush on Sunday next at 2.30 p.m. will be taken by the Rev W. F. Stent, Vicar of St Mark’s Church. An Ascension Day service was held in St Mark’s Church, Carterton, last evening. Carterton Hockey Teams. Hinemoa senior ladies team to play Kiwi at Carterton at 2.30 p.m. —T. Compton, V. Ward, Z. Ward, B. Irwin, N. Finn, E. Stubbs, M. Parker, K. Te Tau, E. Pura, T. Bradbury, B. McPhee. Hinemoa junior girls to play College A at the College at 1.30 p.m.:—L. Hopkins, A. Williams, R. Hopkins, R. Stevens, Z. Freer, M. McPhee, P. Roiguard, N. Williams, B. Merwood, D. George, N. Buick, N. Copeland, B. Parker. The Carterton seniors will be represented as follows against Kiwi at Masterton. tomorrow: —A. Ward, R. Byers, A. Harp, S. Fisher, M. Worsfold, D. Irwin, B. Roberts, R. Brown, A. Fisher, D. Mr Jas Gorman left Carterton this morning for Palmerston North, having received an urgent message that his sister, Mrs Richardson was dangerously ill in hospital.
