TRANSJORDAN RULE
PROPOSED CHANGES. MORE DISCRETIONARY POWER FOR AMIR. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. May 16. A statement issued by the Colonial Office today says that Britain has agreed in principle to the formation in place of the present executive council of the Transjordan of a Council of Ministers or Cabinet, each member of which will be in charge of a department and responsible to the Amir. Britain has also consented to the deletion from the agreement governing lhe relations between Britain and the Transjordan of the existing restriction upon the Amir’s powers of raising and maintaining military forces in the Transjordan and also to. the appointment by the Amir of consular representatives in certain neighbouring Arab countries. The general effect of these and other amendments is to increase the discretionary authority of the Amir,' Governrnent.
