One of London’s leading publishing houses has accepted a song named “Grand Old Man,” written by Mrs J. R. Mackay, of Waikaia. Mr J. J. Stroud, of Gore, composed the melody and the music was arranged by Mr Claude Hayden, of Wellington. The song is dedicated to the Prime Minister of Britain (Mr Neville Chamberlain) and when it is published the company will present the original manuscript to Mrs Chamberlain on behalf of Mrs Mackay.
The attention is drawn of the Kiatere Harrier Club members, supporters and friends to the farewell social to be tendered Mr J. L. Burns in the Epiphany Hall tomorrow night. Lady friends are asked to bring a basket.
