PROVISION MADE IN BRITAIN. SAFEGUARD IN EVENT OF WAR. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, May 16. As a safeguard in the event of war, the Government announced today a supplementary civil estimate of £3,350,000. of which £2,100,000 will be usect for the purchase and maintenance of a merchant ship reserve and £1,250,000 for the purchase and storage of tractors and agricultural implements. A note says that the building up of a shipping reserve is most urgent. The storage of agricultural implements will facilitate an increase in home production in emergency. Legislation will be introduced shortly.
