EKETAHUNA
PLUNKET SOCIETY. MONTHLY MEETING OF BRANCH. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Plunket Society there were present: Mesdames Albrechtsen (chair), Richardson, George, Grav, Christie, McAnulty and the secretary, Mrs Carter. An apology was received from Mrs Ives. Accounts amounting to £3 6s were passed for payment. The nurse’s report which was read and adopted showed the following figures for March and April, the figures for the former month being given first in each instance: —Babies under supervision, 73, 76; children under supervision, 48, 48; new cases for the month, 2,4: visits' to homes, 26, 21; visits to district, 5,4; visits to office, adults. 66, 39; babies, 60, 33; children, 8,2. The resignations of Mr and Mrs Macky were received with regret, owing to their leaving the district. Mrs Jas. McAnulty, Senr., was reelected as a member of the committee. A discussion took place in connection with the proposed Sir Truby King Memorial. It was decided to further discuss the matter at the next meeting. . The following subscriptions are acknowledged: — Mesdames George, McAnulty, Richardson, Koce, and Terry, 5s each. Personal Items. Mr W. Duffill has been appointed engineer to the Eketahuna County in the place of Mr W. G. Macky, who has resigned to take up an appointment in Te Kuiti. The death took place on Sunday at Pahiatua of one of the early pioneers of the Forty-Mile Bush district in the person of Mr Jacob Manson, who was a native of Helsingborg, Sweden. In the days before the railway he was engaged in packing from Masterton to Eketahuna, which, on account of the deep mud, he described as the hardest work ever undertaken by him. He married Miss Caroline Sigvertsen, of Eketahuna, and was an uncle of Mrs Jen Petersen, of Atca. Mrs Wilson McDonnell (Maharahara) and Mrs Clifl (Masterton) arc nieces. He was aged 86 years. Motor Car Accident. An accident on Saturday morning occurred on the road near Kaiparoro. when a car somersaulted over a 100foot bank, through a fence and came to rest in a paddock. It is understood that further inquiries will be heard ol the matter.
