Bitten on two'fingers by a death .adder as Gosford, Charles Louss, aged. 19, calmly blew off his hand with a shotgun, wrapped his shattered wrist in a handkerchief, and -walked a mile to his home and then drove fourteen miles by car to a doctor. The doctor said that but for Louss’s desperate act the bites would have killed him.
