ROAD FATALITY

MAN KILLED IN ,SOUTH CANTERBURY. IMPACT WITH STATIONARY CAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, May 14. A fatal accident occurred about . a mile from Fairlie on Saturday evening. The victim was Humphreys Frederick Brosnahan, aged 29. He and two companions were returning from a football match in Fairlie when the car, which was driven by Mr Brosnahan, struck a car which had pulled up on the roadside because of a broken petrol pipe. Mr Brosnahan was thrown heavily against tht steering wheel; he received severe injuries to the chest and died before medical aid arrived. His companions received only minor injuries. The driver of the stationary car, Mr John Cresswell Harrison, Winchester, was knocked over by the impact, but escaped with minor injuries.
