OBITUARY
MAYOR OF UPPER HUTT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Obituary: Mr Peter Robertson, Mayor of Upper Hutt, on his fifty-ninth birthday. Mr Robertson was born at Eaglehawk, Bendigo, Australia. He arrived in Nev/ Zealand in 1900, residing at Lower Hutt. In 1911 he commenced, business in Upper Hutt as a coachbuilder and undertaker. From then on he took an active interest in local body affairs. From 1914 to 1918 he was chairman of the old Town Board of Upper Hutt. For thirteen years he was a member of the Wellington Education Board. Since its inception, he had been president of the New Zealand Labour Party’s branch at Upper Hutt. This was his third term as Mayor, he having held the position previously from 1927 to 1931. He was also a member of several other Wellington public bodies. He is survived by a widow and two children of a second marriage and three sons and two daughters of a firs<. marriage. There will be a civic funeral tomorrow.
