MASTERTON GUN CLUB
CLAY AGGREGATE. SHOOTING OF HIGH STANDARD. The Masterion Gun Club commenced the first round of the clay aggregate on Saturday. There was only a medium attendance of , members, a number of the regular shooters apparently being away at the Lake duck shooting. The shooting was of a very high standard, the honours for the day going to F. Taplin, who put up a splendid performance, smashing his 21 clays and never once using the second barrel. Three other shooters recorded 20 “breaks” each. The following were the shooters and their scores: —F. Taplin (15), 21; H. K. Smith (16), 20; R. J. King (14), 20; D. McKenzie (16), 20; J; McKenzie (17), 19; G. Bretherton (16), 19; J. W. McKenzie (15), 19; C. E. Grey (17), 18; J. Laurenson (14), 17; W. Moroney (11), 17; D. McLachlan (16), 16; A. Macalister 4(14), 16. In the Yankee shoot, Jim McKenzie, D. McKenzie, F. Taplin and J. W. McKenzie shot the possible and divided the stakes. ■ A “jimcrack” shoot of 7 birds completed the day’s events. Four shooters securing the possible. In the shoot off, first miss out, R. J. King retired at the Bth, C. E. Grey at the 10th, and G. Bretherton at the 12th, leaving Jim McKenzie the winner.
