PLACES OF BEAUTY
MORE POWERS FOR BRITISH TRUST. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 11. A Select Committee of the House of Lords met today to consider a Bill promoted by the National Trust for the Preservation of Places of Beauty and Interest to obtain further powers in respect of the transfer of land to the trust. The general aim of the Bill is to enable the trust in proper cases to acquire and procure permanently famous or beautiful country houses which are not in the hands of absolute owners but of tenants for life who are not free to make what arrangements they think proper for the preservation of the property.
