SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES
A STRONG DEMAND. AT WELLINGTON SALE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. There was a strong demand for the large catalogue of sheepskins and hides offered at yesterday’s sale by the Wellington brokers. Sheepskins: Competition was very keen and prices as compared with those ruling at the last sale were, full wools, >’d higher, half-wools to short wools, id higher, pelts practically unchanged. Very few salted skins were offered.
Hides: Light ox were Jd to Id higher, and heavy ox showed a decline of approximately id. All grades of cow were dearer by approximately id, and calf-skins unchanged.
The following is- the range of prices: Dry sheepskins: Halfbred, 6Jd to BJd; fine crossbred, 6Jd to B}d; medium crossbred. to Bjd; coarse crossbred, to Bjd; half-wools, 5-Jd to 7jjd; quarter-wools, 4d to 6id; pelts, 2Jd to 4Jd. Salted skins: Quarter-wools, Is to 2s; half-wools, 2s 3d to 2s lOd. Hides: Ox, 331 b to 441 b, sjd to 5 7-8 d; 451 b to 521 b, 5 3-8 d to Gd; 531 b to 591 b, 3 3-8 d to 6 3-8 d; 601 b to 691 b, 3 3-8 d to 6£d; 701 b and \_over, to 6 5-Bd. Cow, 331 b to 391 b, 4Jd to 5 7-8 d; 401 b to 481 b, 4 7-8 d to 6d; 491 b and over, 43d to 5 7-Bd. Kip, 251 b to 321 b, 4 3-8 d U 6jd; 171 b to 241 b. 53d to 7jd. Yearling, 111 b to 161 b. 4d to Bd. Calf, 91b to 101 b, to Sjd; 61b to 81b, 5d to l(Rd; l ib to 51b, 6 5-8 d to IOJd. Sundries: Cow tails (a dozen), 10id Horse hair (a lb), 22jd.
