WEDDING
REID—SCHNELL. A very pretty wedding was celebrated recently at “Clivedale,” Rongomai, the home of Mr and Mrs C. Schnell, when Miss Rita Schnell, their eldest daughter, was wedded to Mr Bert Reid, younger son of Captain W. and Mrs Reid, of Eastbourne, Wellington. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. L. Ives, of Eketahuna, and was held on the lawn beneath a large white floral bell. The autumn tinted shrubs and multi-coloured flower beds made a perfect setting for the occasion. The music was played by Mrs W. E. Howe, and included the hymn "O Perfect Love."
The bride was escorted by her father and wore a gown of white lace over satin with a high pointed waistline on to a shirred bodice. A sprig of orange blossom was worn at the base of the heart-shaped neckline. The sleeves were full - at the top and were tight fitting at the wrist. The skirt fell in graceful folds to form a train and the embroidered net veil (lent by a friend) made a second train and was caught to the head with a circlet of orange blossom. She carried a show'er bouquet of dahlias, chrysanthemums, maidenhair fern and belladonna lilies.
The bridesmaid was Miss Ethel Sellens, of Wellington, who wore a frock of green floral sheer mounted on taffeta and made on similar lines to the bride's frock, but with short puff sleeves. She carried an autumn bouquet of chrysanthemums, rose buds and maidenhair fern. Little May Baines, niece of the bride, dressed in a frilled frock of pink organdie, was a dainty flower girl. She carried a floral ball of pink and blue hydrangeas and blue delphiniums. The bridesmaid and flower girl both wore haloes of pink stiffened net trimmed with pink and green velvet flowers.
Mr Reid was attended by Mr lan Jose, of Wellington, as best man. The guests were received by Mr and Mrs Schnell and Mr and Mrs Reid. Mrs Schnell wdre a storm blue frock of satin backed crepe and a peach bloom hat to tone. A contrasting shoulder spray was also worn. Mrs Reid was attired in a navy blue tailored costume, navy hat. and her shoulder spray was in shades of red.
