————— • MEETING OF DIRECTORS. PREPARATIONS FOR THE WINTER SEASON. The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. was held in the rooms on Tuesday evening, with an attendance of eight members. The president, Mr W. A. Clarke, was in the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Coddington, Masters, Beecroft, Ramsay and Kennedy. The president extended a welcome, on behalf of the board, to the Rev. F. J. Parker, who was attending for the first time since his election to the directorate. Mr Parker expressed gratitude for the confidence shown in him and hoped that his association with the work would be a useful one. The general secretary’s report showed that the organisation of the work for the winter season was well in hand and that, so far, the enrollments for the various physical activities of the association totalled 271. The financial statement was presented and accounts totalling £2B were passed. For special gifts and assistance during the month, the board expressed thanks to the Martinborough Horse Sports and Athletic Association, Mrs Kerr and Messrs Sellar, Ninnes, Lyttle and Pearce. It was reported that Dr. N. H. Prior had consented to act as honorary medical officer to the. association and Mr Whyborn as honorary auditor. Appreciation was expressed of the valuable work done by Mr A. D. Low. as honorary auditor, for many years past. Reference was made to the death of Mrs Elmsley, an active member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, members standing as a mark of respect. It was pointed out that the annual Mother and Son Tea was to be held on Wednesday, May 31, and it was anticipated that the function would be a great success.
