HOLLYWOOD STAND-INS
AN ODD SET-UP. Gary Cooper has an old friend of his cowboy days for a stand-in —Slim Talbot, who looks like Gary, and is a grea; horseman. There is a close bond between the two, and Gary fights tooth and nail for Slim and takes him to every studio. The oddest set-up of .all is John Barrymore and his stand-in. Harry Cornelia. Harry has a touch of the famous Barrymore profile, but tiie likeness ends there, because he was a circus acrobat belonging to the once-fam-ous Flying Cornelias. He also was a featured comedian back in the silent era. Bette Davis is very thoughtful cf he-stand-in. Sally Sage, although she does not mix socially with her. Sally earns a lot of extra money posing for hand shots for many of the stars. She has very beautiful hands. Irene Dunne takes her stand-in 1< every studio where she works, and is very charming to her at all times. _ ■ Barbara Stanwyck Is more than kind to her stand-in, taking her homo with her for a rest and giving her extra money and lots cf clothes. When Franchot Tone left Hollywood recently for New York and the stage, he made sure that his stand-in "Alabam” Davis was set in a job. He got the studio to write Davis into Bob Montgomery’s contract for three years at a good salary.
