MEETING OF MASTERTON BRANCH. SIR TRUBY KING MEMORIAL. The president, Mrs J. Qaselberg, occupied the chair at the monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society, held yesterday. Others present were:—Mesdames S. L. P. Free, J. D. O'Connor, W. A. Michael, E. G. Eton, H. Morrison, J. James, A. H. Falloon, T. F. Watson, R. Beetham, A. F. Stewart, R. C. Drummond, H. H. Daniell and J. M. Coradine. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames E. G. Norman, Sortain Smith, J. C. Broad and A. Ericson. Mrs Caselberg stated that Mrs O’Connor had agreed to take over the important duties of treasurer. Mrs O’Connor was warmly thanked for her offer. It was decided to place on record appreciation of the services of Mr Neal Irwin, who has been acting as treasurer. Letters were received from the principals of Wairarapa, Solway and St Matthew’s Colleges accepting the offer of the branch to make arrangements for the nurses to give talks to the pupils on child nursing. Headquarters of the society forwarded a circular setting out the details of the national appeal to provide a suitable memorial to the late Sir Truby King. If was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the executive to consider the best method of inaugurating the scheme, the council having forwarded posters and to assist the branch in its campaign. The hope was expressed that the public would show its appreciation in a practical manner of such a great humanitarian as Sir Truby King by contributing to the memorial fund. Accounts amounting to £45 15s were passed. The president submitted a draft of her annual report and also a copy of the balance sheet, both of which Were approved. The nurses’ annual report was also submitted to the meeting. The report indicated a considerable extension of the work. It was reported that Mrs Begg, the Dominion President, would visit Masterton next week and arrangements were made for her to meet the committee. The nurses reported as follows: — visits to office, adults 354: babies 322; ore-school children 118; telephone 107; total 901. Visits to homes, new cases, 50; old cases, 152; total 202. Total number of babies on books 395; older children 337; new cases, town and country. 21. Outstations. Blairlogie, Whareama, Langdale and Tinui, 2 visits each; visits to homes, 24. Kopuranga, Hastwells. Mangamahoe and Mauriceville East, 2 visits each. Ihuruara Valley. 1 visit. Visits to homes, 15. Pre-natal new cases 2; return visits, 14; visits to home, 9; total 25.
