MAURICEVILLE WEST
CONCERT AND DANCE. SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The concert and dance , held in the Mauriceville West Hall last Wednesday night under the auspices of the local school committee, proved a most successful and enjoyable function. Despite untavourable weather conditions, the hall was packed. The concert programme presented by the pupils was of a high standard and reflected great credit on their teacher Mrs Mcßae.
Two ope-act plays so ably staged by ex-pupils were received with warm applause from the audience and congratulations are due to those who took part. After supper had been served, dancing was indulged in until an early hour. Music for the dance was supplied by Mr West and Mrs I. Larsen carried out the duties of M.C. TABLE TENNIS CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Mauriceville West Table Tennis Club was held on Monday evening, a good attendance of members being present. The balance sheet showed the club to be in a satisfactory financial position. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follow: —Chairman. Mr J. Sigvertsen; club captain, Mr N. Williams; joint secretaries, Misses C. Palmer and J. Larsen; committee, officers and Mr C. Nielsen. It was decided to officially open the season with, a yankee tournament on Wednesday, May 24, and to extend an invitation to all clubs to be present. Personal Items. Mrs G. Nielsen and her son, Jack, are spending the school holidays with relatives in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs G. Mcßae are spending the school vacation in Auckland.
