"The May meeting of the League of Mothers took the form of a “fathers’ night,” when the husbands and wives assembled in the Parish Hall, Greytown, to listen to a very instructive address on “Boys,” given by Mr Brasted of the Y.M.C.A. The programme opened with the League hymn. Mrs Farley sang two songs, as did the Glee Choir. Mrs Bull, president, introduced the speaker. Mr Brasted’s wide experience of boy training enabled him to pass on to those present some valuable advice. He' said that boys from 14 to 17 years old were very often misunderstood by their parents. He said that the only way to get the best out of a boy was to gain his confidence, encourage him and occasionally give him a pat on the back. It was wonderful what a • little encouragement would do.
Mrs Bull thanked Mr Brasted at the close of his address, and called on the Rev Canon Sykes to say a few words. The Canon stated it had been a pleasure to listen to such a good address on boys. He said that a person like Mr Brasted, who had had such a wide experience of boys, was able to point out the way to control one’s own boy.
Mr H. Carter thanked Mr Brasted on behalf of the fathers. Supper was served, and the meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the League Hymn and the National Anthem. Golf Competitions.
