A very pleasant time was spent on Saturday, the occasion being a sendoff to Mr and Mrs H. Winter and family. Mr Winter has been in charge of the school here for about three years and owing to the school being closed has been transferred to the Rongokokako School near Eketahuna. There were over 60 people present. Before supper Mr S. Gray presented the guests of the evening with a dinner set, and in a few well chosen words referred to the activities which Mr and Mrs Winter had taken part in. On behalf of the residents of the district he regretted their departure very much. Crystal serviette rings were presented to Misses Lois and Hetty Winter, and a child’s plate to Master Brian Winter.

Mr Winter suitably replied, referring to the many friendships they had made during their stay in the district. He thanked them all very sincerely for the gifts.
