WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION SATURDAY’S RESULTS. FAST AND INTERESTING PLAY. Ideal conditions prevailed for the continuation of the Wairarapa Hockey Association’s fixtures on Saturday. In the senior division Hastwells and Wesley met on the Lansdowne grounds and a very interesting game resulted in Hastwells gaining the honours by 2/1. Wesley, however, showed much better form this week and fully extended the Hastwells eleven. Kiwi having their first match of the season played a drawn game with Dalefield. This game was played at Carterton and proved fast and exciting as the scores 5 all indicates. Carterton had the bye, and it was very pleasing to see several of their players out with the whistle. The junior competition is going to be keenly contested this year. On Saturday, College Old Boys, Wesley A, Carterton A and Greytown A all returned winning cards. It is a pity the association did not divide this competition into two divisions. The A teams «re much stronger and the big scores being registered each week is not very encouraging for the younger boys. The association could well discuss the position at the next meeting. The following are men’s results.’— Senior. Hastwells beat. Wesley, 2/1. Dalefield drew with Kiwi, 5/5. Carterton a bye. Junior. Carterton A beat Carterton B, 7/2. Wesley A beat Greytown B, 12/0. Greytown A beat Wesley B, 4/3. Dalefield beat College B, by default. College A beat College Old Boys, 7/0. \ WOMEN’S GAMES. SEASON OPENED. The Wairarapa Women’s Hockey Association’s competitions were commenced on Saturday, with the senior and junior fixtures. Excelsior started off on the right foot with a 4/0 win against Carterton at Lansdowne. Kiwi did not get a good start, having to forfeit .. to Kia Ora A through having several of their regular players absent. College ran all over Kia Ora B and put up a big score. Kia Ora had quite a few new players in the team but were a long way from being fit, the College running them off their feet. Results were as follow: — Senior. Excelsior beat Carterton, 4/0. College beat Kia Ora B, 10/0. Kia Ora A beat Kiwi, by default. Junior. Excelsior beat Featherston, 8/2. College A beat College Old Girls, 3/0. Carterton beat College B, 5/0.
