WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
NIREAHA MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the May meeting of the Nireaha Women’s Institute, Mrs Shannon, presided over a fair attendance of members. Mrs Petersen acted as secretary in the absence of Mrs P. Wilkin. The motto for the day was “Judge not, lest ye be judged.” The roll call “uses of vinegar” brought forth many and varied suggestions. A letter of thanks was received from a mother for the money-box sent to her baby. li7was decided that a letter be sent to Mrs J. R. Mason on the eve of her departure for Australia, wishing her a pleasant holiday. A most interesting and instructive talk was given by Miss A. E. Anderson on home nursing. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Lozell and W. Drysdale, after which Miss Anderson gave a demonstration of bandaging and treatment of a fractured forearm. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded her. Competitions resulted as follow: — Best bloom, Mesdames Petersen, 1; Lozell, 2; Hawkins, 3. Best bottle of preserves, Mesdames Lozell, 1; F. Hansen, 2; Drysdale, 3. Shortbread, Mesdames F. Hansen, 1; Lozell, 2.
