At the wool sales, 9062 bales were offered, including 5393 from New Zealand, and 7967 were sold. There was a fairly good selection, chiefly of New Zealand crossbreds, and strong competition came from the Home trade at firm rates. New Zealand greasy crossbred Pa_panui averaged, 9Ad, with a top price of 10jd; Ngatapa, 9J to lOJd; greasy half-bred fleece, Stonycroft, lid. COMMENT BY DAWSONS. NO CAUSE FOR PESSIMISM. (Received This Day, 9,35 a.m.) . LONDON, May 3. Messrs Dawsons, commenting on the wool sales, say: “It is an amazing fact that despite recurrent rises, wool has showed a minimum fluctuation. There is no justification for pessimism through prices are low and profits small.”
