A sensational smash, involving a large motor car and a cake shop, occurred in Hataitai (Wellington) shortly after midnight. The car, turning from Taurima Street, which leads from the Hataitai traffic tunnel, dashed across Mdxham Avenue, and, bursting the windows of the shop, drove 10 feet or! more inside it, wrecking everything in its path. After wrecking the shop the car was backed out by its driver, who turned the vehicle towards Kilbirnie and drove it about 200 yards down Moxham Avenue before he was overtaken by a police constable, who had leapt into another car and given pursuit. The driver, who was not injured, was arrested. The car was considerably damaged.
An amateur farmer says he has had enough of farming. Found it a harrowing experience.
