BADMINTON
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. The president, Mr J. K. Logan, presided over the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Badminton Association held in the A. and P. Rooms last night. Delegates present were—Messrs P. Martin, J. A. Beveridge, O. A. Grant (Martinborough): G. McCullough (Regent), C. J. Carle (St Matthews); P. Hawksworth, F. D. Walker, P. Rishworth (Masterton); B. Hurly (Nomads); and the secretary, J. M. Jones (Nomads). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs H. M. A. Mqjor and E. K. Eastwood. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mr E. K. Eastwood; vice-presi-dent, Mr B. M. Hurly (Nomads); secretary and treasurer: C. J. Carle (St Matthews); Executive committee: Messrs Hawksworth (Masterton); Grant (Martinborough), McCullough (Regent), Rishworth (Masterton), Jones (Nomads); Delegate to New Zealand Badminton Federation, Mr H. M. A. Major; honorary auditor: Mr N. H. James.
The association’s annual tournament was fixed for July 26-29. The interclub competition was left to the management committee to arrange. Mr P.' Hawksworth moved, and Mr P. Rishworth seconded, that the Wairarapa Badminton Association place on record the outstanding services rendered over a period of years by the retiring president (Mr J. K. Logan) and vice-president Mr H. M. A. Major. The motion was carried with applause The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.
