An instance of a stray rifle bullet fired on the Redcliffs rifle range alleged!} endangering life and property was reported to the Sumner Borough Council Councillor C. E. Claydon said that recently a stray .303 bullet went throng! the window of the Mount Pleasant tea house. The window had been closec before the incident, otherwise the bullet might have buried itself in the inside wall, and may never have beer noticed. They should not wait until someone was killed before doing something, he said. Another councillor said that a shed belonging to Mr H. Truscott was riddled with bullets, and that a farmhand employed on the farm behind the range had given up his job because of the danger. Councilloi Claydon said that the police had the bullet. When it hit the window it dropped under a bed. ft was decided to write to the Minister for Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) about the danger.
