STABLEFORD GOLF COMPETITION. DONALD CUP CONDITIONS. ("Times-Age” Special.) ■ Although the weather was not the best on Saturday afternoon there was a full muster of players for the first round of the Stableford competition which is to be held over the season. The younger players are showing vast improvement and if they maintain their progress they will have to be reckoned with before the season closes. Miss McGregor with 41 had the besi card among the ladies. F. Cotter (39) topped the men. The latter also won the weekly competition, Mrs A. McGregor annexing that for the ladies. Miss Bannister defeated Mrs Schofield in a Kummerstein Cup match, and S. Gray defeated A. McGregor in r Nimmo Cup shallenge. On the next playing day. May 7, the first round for the lady captain's trophy and the president’s trophy will be played. Donald Cup. A meeting of representatives from the four country clubs who are to compete for the Donald Cup was held a' Tyneside on Monday evening. The delegates present were: Messrs F. Tatham and I. Tomlin (Homewood), S. Gray and A. McGregor (Te Wharau), I. Macrae and E. Williams (Tyneside), and A. Wardell and G. Elliott (Wainuioru). Mr S. Gray presided. The chairman outlined the proposals and the existing conditions governing the play for the Donald Cup which was presented in 1935 to the Homewood. Whareama and Te Wharau clubs for yearly competition by Mr A. Donald, of Masterton.

It was unanimous-ly agreed that the four clubs should now compete for the cup under the present rules, and tha( all players must be playing members of their respective clubs. A general discussion took place over the arrangme of dates, and it was decided that the Homewood Club should have preference for the first match, and that club is to play Te Wharau (holders) on May 14 ’at Te Wharau.
