- ♦ —— BUCHANAN HOME. VISITED BY WOMEN’S DIVISION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The members of the Greytown branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union paid a visit to Buchanan Home yesterday afternoon and entertained the inmates at an afternoon tea party. Mrs H. G. Carter arranged a programme of musical item's which was much enjoyed by all. Those taking part were: Mesdames Farley and Carter (pianoforte duet); the Mothers’ League choir sang two glees; Miss Josie Dennes entertained with a recitation; a short musical community sing followed in which everyone joined; Mrs H._ Farley sang two songs; Mrs H. Morison entertained at the piano, playing old-time favourites; Mrs T. Gold then sang two songs; Miss Pat Sugrue followed with a tap dance; Mrs T. R. Ingley sang two solos, and Mesdames T. Gold and H. G. Carter played a pianoforte duet. The singing of the National Anthem brought the visit to a close. Mrs Morris, who is .91 years of age, thanked the ladies for coming along and providing them with such a pleasant afternoon. The members of the Women’s Division were then invited to have afternoon tea in the nurses’ dining room. Mrs R. Beu (president) expressed thanks to the matron and staff. She also stated that one of the members of the party (Mrs W. J. Knell) was celebrating her birthday. All wished Mrs Knell many happy returns of the day and accorded her musical honours. Golf Competition Draw. The following is the draw for the second medal round to be played on Saturday, commencing at 1.20 sharp:— W. Everett v A. G. Peterson; E. Maddison v J. W. Tate; Dr Oakey v A. Players are to be ready to start at 9.30 a.m. and bring refreshments for the morning and afternoon. Rugby Teams for Saturday. The following will represent Greytown seniors against Red Star at Greytown on Saturday:—Brunton (2), Heines, McWilliams, Segrue, Habib, Nix, Brice, Skeet, Stringfellow, Hood, Workman, Hume, Humphries, Jury, McCalmont, Fluty, Parker. The Greytown junior team to play Old Boys at Greytown at 2.30 p.m. will be: Connolly, Falconer, Woodley, McKenna, Playle, Field, Goodin, Spooner, Barge, Edwards, Brunton, Knight, •Tucker, Gordon, O’Neale, Montgomerie, Humphries. The following third grade team will play Wairarapa College at Masterton, the bus leaving Pickard’s at 1.15 p.m.: McKenzie (2), Greathead, Dyson, O’Neale, Skeet (2), Stuart, Herod, Hood (2), Rayner, Eaton, Kareta, Olliver, Pirere, Montgomerie, Potten, Kenning.
