OLD GIRLS’ BALL
SOLWAY COLLEGE ASSOCIATION. GATHERING IN ARCADE HALL. ’The Arcade Hall, brightly decorated for the occasion. presented a gay scene last night when the annual ball of the Solway College Old Girls’ Association was held. Dancers were present from all parts of the Wairarapa and also from Wellington and the Manawatu. . Small tables, adorned with green cloths, autumn flowers and foliage were placed around the hall, the general decorative scherrie being carried out in green, the college colours. The president, Mrs Eric Shaw and the joint secretaries, Misses A. J. Tregurtha and F. Scott, received the patrons. Excellent dance music was supplied by'Jack Barnes and his orchestra. Mr lan Shaw was M.C. The general arrangements for the ball were attended to by members of the association, under the direction of the president and joint secretaries.

Kennedy, brown embossed satin; Misses N. McClymont, pink taffeta, dark red corsage spray; J. McGregor, white lace over satin with geranium touches; W. Davie, black lace over rose pink satin; P. French, cream taffeta; J. Mitchell (Levin), floral silk taffeta; N. Ractliffe, powder blue Victorian model; A. Eton, flame taffeta with toning bandeau; J. Wrigley, salmon striped chiffon; P. Nikolaison, royal blue silk velvet; J. Burton, green georgette and panne velvet wrap; M. Tildesley, floral georgette; B.' Percy, cyclamen taffeta; L. Moody, navy lace with floral spray; M. Heyder, cerise taffeta; L. Dunn, black skirt and pink tunic; G. McTaggart (Featherston), green floral georgette; N. Tocker, ruby lace; E. Burling, violet quilted satin; B. Dalgliesh, rainbow georgette; Mesdames P. R. Welch,-black crepe satin; W. R. Nicol, midnight-blue velvet; G. Beecroft, blue mariette; Marchbank, floral ‘romaine; S. McJorrow, violet taffeta; R. L. McKins.try, black satin with diamante trimming; Misses R? Lett, pink silk net over satin; N. Brown, pink mousilline; G. Baird, blue satin, silver trimming; M. Illingsworth, morley taffeta; E. Calwell, blue floral satin; J. Andrews, floral green taffeta; M. Downes, mauve sheer and silver; V. Keith, blue printed organdie; E. Ralph, petunia crepe; B. Coleman, shaded cyclamen net over shot taffeta; A. Liverton, blue lace; P. Nix, figured taffeta; M. Tocker, green floral georgette; M. Dohnt, cream georgette; M. Nikolaison, cyclamen georgette; D. Baird, green and gold; B. Ryal, powder blue rucked lace; G. Allen, blue patterned organdie with white frills. The evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
