WEDDING

SCALLY—SAVAGE

The wedding was solemnised at St Mary of the Angels Church, Boulcott Street, Wellington, on April 19, of Margaret Mary, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Savage, “Innisfallen,” Solway, Masterton, to Alexandra Kevin, son of Mr and Mrs J. Scally, Oamaru. The Rev Father Joyce, of Christchurch, performed the ceremony and celebrated Nuptial Mass, being assisted by the Rev Father Moore of Masterton. Mrs Aldridge of Wellington played the Wedding March. The bride . was escorted by her father, and wore a gown of cream magnolia satin cut on classical lines, the skirt hung in graceful folds and formed a circular train, held in place with sprays of orange blossom. Her embroidered tulle veil was worn over her face and was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of cream roses and maiden-hair fern. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids—Miss Anne Savage (sister of the bride, chief) and Miss Anne Scally, sister of the bridegroom. Little Miss Anne Culloty, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Culloty, Lower Hutt, acted as flower girl. The bridesmaids and flower girl were frocked alike in frocks of lavender sheer-georgatta, trimmed with violet velvet ribbon, and carried shower bouquets of lavender and violet stocks and maiden-hair fern. Mr Michael Macklehatton, of Christchurch, was best man and Mr Bernard Savage, of Masterton, was groomsman. The reception was afterwards held at the Empire Hotel, Wellington, where Mrs W. Myers, 'of Wellington, sister of the bride, received the guests, assisted by Mrs Scally, mother of the bridegroom. Mrs Myers wore a French grey tailored costume, over which she wore a silver fox fur. Mrs J. Scally was attired in a nigger brown tailored costume with matching accessories, and their posies consisted of red roses and maiden-hair fern.

Numerous congratulatory telegrams were received from friends and relatives. Visitors were present from Rotorua, Hastings, Sydney, Oamaru, Christchurch, Timaru, Wanganui, Blenheim and Auckland. .Later in the afternoon Mi’ and Mrs Scally left by car for their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a tulle blue tailored costume, with matching accessories.

Mr and Mrs Scally’s future home will be in Christchurch.
