AMERICAN PARTY BOUND FOR NOUMEA. ANOTHER CREW GOING TO CANTON ISLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright HONOLULU, May 2. A Pan-American Airways construction party of six men to establish an airways base at Noumea departed today in the Mariposa for Sydney where they will transfer to a steamer for Noumea. The leader of the party, Mr A. L. Lewis, formerly Pan-American Airways’ airport manager in Auckland stated that he had been informed when the experimental flights would occur He understood that the American route would be Honolulu-Canton Island-Nou-mea-Auckland. Mr Lewis said he was positive that the company would not directly enter Australia. Another construction crew wil leave Honolulu within a week to establish a base on Canton Island, but Government experts declare that the survey flights will not be made for six months at the earliest.
