ESPERANTO

MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club was held last evening in the clubroom, Municipal Buildings, Mr A. Dewar, D.8.E.A., presiding over a very good attendance. Greetings were received from the Wellington Club, and in connection with Esperanto progress within the Dominion, it was announced that a new club had recently been established at Feilding. that the Wanganui Club had been revived and comprises 37 members, and that a radio course of instruction is being broadcast from IZB (Auckland) at 5.30 p.m. each Wednesday. Correspondence in Esperanto received during the week consisted of letters from Brisbane and London. Speaking on the subject of recent progress of the Esperanto movement overseas, the secretary (Mr W. H. King), stated that the’ Second International Camp for Esperanto-speaking children will be held in August near Brussels, Belgium, with an anticipated attendance of 400 children from at least 12 countries. Information had come to hand relative to voluntary classes in Esperanto commenced in Aberdeen last November, The boys taking part, over 50 in number, were, by March corresponding with students In nine countries, including erstwhile Czechoslovakia- ■ -.u The usual weekly tuition, given with the aid of the blackboard to a combined class of junior and senior members, comprised conversational practice and the study of the finger grammatical points of the international language.
