Miss Ellen McKenzie, Wellington, is the guest of her sister-in-law, Mrs Smith, Renall Street, Masterton. Mrs J. W. Collins, of Wellington, spent the weekend with Mrs L. Cross, Church Street, Masterton. Mrs H. C. Smith, Wellington, was the guest of Mrs L. Cross, Masterton, during the weekend. Mr and Mrs W. E. Cody have returned to Masterton from their honeymoon trip round the North Island. Mr and Mrs F. M. Maze, Pleasant Point, Canterbury, who have been staying with Mr and Mrs H. W. Baty, Renall Street, Masterton, have returned south. Mrs Ann Hubbard, of Waimate, celebrated her hundredth birthday yesterday. Born in. Moulsham, England, she came to New Zealand with her ■husband and six children in the sailing vessel Peeress in 1874, settling in Timaru. Later the family went to Waimate. Of a family of twelve seven are still living. There are 35 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Mrs Hubbard retains to a remarkable degree all her ■facalties, remembering clearly events from the early reign of Queen Victoria. ENGAGEMENT. x POWELL—COLE. The engagement is announced of •Joyce Emilie, only daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Cole, Havelock North, to Allan Erl, younger son of Mr and Mrs G. C.. Powell, Makuri, Pahiatua.
