DRINKING-BY YOUTHS
FINES IN NEW PLYMOUTH. MAGISTRATE’S ADVICE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The determination of the police to stop the practice of youths under twenty-one drinking in Nev/ Plymouth hotels was declared by a Senior-Ser-geant in the Police Court this morning when Leonard Harvey, Frederick Crossan and Gordon Mason werecharged with entering an hotel and falsely representing that they were twenty-one years of age. All the accused pleaded guilty and frankly admitted that they misled the barman concerning their ages. “I am glad of the assurance that you do not frequent bars regularly,” said the Magistrate. ‘‘l hope you never do. You won’t be good footballers if you do.” i ■ • It was explained that the boys had been at a football practice and had decided to have a drink. They were each fined £l, with costs 10s.
