WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS COMMENCED. The competitions under the jurisdiction of the Wairarapa Hockey Association were commenced on Saturday and some exceptionally keen games were played. The match played on Carrington' Park, Carterton, between Hastwells and Dalefield in the men’s senior division was won by the visitors by 5 goals to 3. The.game was controlled by Messrs H. Playle and H. Finn. Playing at Lansdowne, Carterton was too good for Wesley, beating them by 3 goals to 2. Messrs Moor and J. Moynahan were the referees. The junior games resulted as follows:—Dalefield beat Greytown (played at Greytown), by 2/0; Carterton beat Wesley, at Carterton, 6/0; College Old Boys beat College B, at Masterton, 13/0; College A won by default from Carterton B. In a ladies’ game played at Lansdowne Excelsior beat Aramoho (Wanganui) by 2 goals to 1. The scorers for the local team were Misses I. Palmer (first ladies’ goal of the season) and E. Madsen. In another ladies’ match at Lansdowne Kia Ora defeated Carterton by 6 goals to 2.
