Mrs Jones was away from home. In a letter to a neighbour she wrote: “Dear Mrs Smith, —I’m so awfully sorry to trouble you, but I’ve come away without putting anything out for the cat. Would you put something out for it, please? It will eat anything, but don't put yourself out.”
