WOOL MARKET

NAPIER SALE. RISE IN VALUES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, April 28. A rise of up to a halfpenny was shown in the market for the final sale of the season, which was held in Napier last night, when compared with the prices ruling at the previous sale on April 3. Values represented a 5 per cent rise on the market in Wellington last Monday. Last night’s sale marked the close of the New Zealand wool-selling season. Prices were above expectations and a clearance of 98 per cent was made under the hammer. With several of the passed-in lots being disposed of later, practically no wool remained unsold. Definite improvement was shown in prices for the great bulk of the wool, the only exceptions being lambs, which showed little change from the first April sale. Southdown and Lincolns were a shade cheaper. Average to inferior fleece wools were a halfpenny dearer and betterstyled fleece lots were fully firm to a shade higher. Bellies, pieces and necks were from Id to ffd dearer and locks also showed improvement. The official range of prices is as
