MARTINBOROUGH
BADMINTON CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Badminton Club was held last night in the Odd Fellows’ Hall, Mr G. Simpson (presiding over a good attendance of members. The report showed that the club had had a successful season, although the membership was smaller than in previous years, but it was hoped that there would be an increase in membership this year. The balance sheet showed that the club was in a healthy condition. Three new members were elected, these being Miss Kennedy, Mrs Simpson and Mr T. Duffy. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mrs G. Pain; vice-presidents, Messrs F. S. Mitchell and W. G. Martin; club captain. Mr G. Simpson; secretary and treasurer, Mr ’O. Grant; committee, Miss Mahood, Mrs Turner. Messrs S. Ussher, E. McAlpine and P. Martin; delegates to the Wairarapa Federation, Messrs A. Beveridge, G. Simpson and O. Grant; auditor, Mr F. S. Michell. Mondays, Thursdays, Saturday and Wednesday are to be set aside for play for inter-club matches. The season will be opened on Monday, May 1. It was decided to place on record the valuable services rendered by Mr O. Grant as secretary and treasurer of the club. Mr Michell spoke in appreciative terms of the way in which Mr Grant had kept the books. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Michell for the valuable assistance he had given the club.
