CAR DRIVER ON PAEKAKARIKI HILL DISCOVERY AT POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION. DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING TRAGEDY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. At about 9.45 o’clock last night John William Brady, aged 26. a labourer employed by the Hutt County Council at Paraparaumu. was driving a threeseater car on the main highway on the Wellington side of the Paekakariki Hill, accompanied by two companions, when he was shot in the head. Suddenly he collapsed over the wheel and the cm - ran into a bank. His companions were of the opinion that Mr Brady had taken a fainting fit. They were Mr K, M. Davies, of -62 Pilmuir Street, Lower Hutt, and Mr E. P. Ryan, of 126 a High Street, Lower Hutt. They escaped with slight cuts. Mr Brady was taken to hospital by a private car. After an examination of his body the police came to the conch) • tion that there was a possibility of foul play and this morning a postmortem examination was held. It resulted in the discovery that the victim had been shot in the back of the head. A bullet was later extracted and handed to the scientific department at police headquarters for examination. Meantime, the car was taken charge of by the police and taken to Paekakariki. Superintendent Lewin accompanied by detectives left this morning to examine ii.
