WAIRARAPA AND PROVINCIAL STOCK JUDGING GATHERING AT TRAINING FARM THIS WEEK. FIVE DISTRICT TEAMS TAKING PART. Young farmers in the. Wairarapa and other parts of the Wellington provincial district will assemble at the Wairarapa Training Farm this week for stock judging competitions. On Wednesday the Wairarapa district contest will be" held and on Thursday the first provincial competition will take place. The Wairarapa competition, which will commence at; 10 a.m. on Wednesday is for the Point Blank Cup. Teams from all Wairarapa Young Farmers’ clubs will be competing in the various classes, which comprise Southdown, Romney, Clydesdale and Jersey. The judges are: Messrs James Donald (Romney), R. M. Perry (Southdown), W. D. Watson (Clydesdale) and W. H. Booth (Jersey). Judging by the teams will take place in the morning and demonstrations by the judges will occupy the afternoon. In the evening the Masterton Club will hold a dance in the Arcade Hall, at which the visitors, who are expected to arrive on Wednesday afternoon, will be the guests. On Thursday the first provincial stock judging competition will be held, in which teams will be taking pari from the following districts:—Manawatu, Wanganui, South Taranaki/ North Taranaki and Wairarapa. The same classes will be judged by the district teams and the same judges will adjudicate, except that Mr W. H. Hall will officiate for the Jerseys. It is hoped to be able to announce the results of the district competition at the afternoon tea to be held at Messrs Hugo and Shearer’s at 3.30 p.m. The Young Farmers’ Federation wishes to express its thanks to the trustees of the Wairarapa Training Farm for the use of the farm for the competition and also the head office of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co for the donation of a challenge trophy for the district judging competition.
