DOG TRIALS
PAHIATUA-MAKURI MEETING. FINAL EVENTS. ' ("Times-Age” Special.) Four days were needed to complete the record entries in the PahiatuaMakuri dog trials. It was nearly five p.m. on Saturday when the president, Mr J. Gibson, announced the winners of the final events. He also thanked the judge, Mr A. Meikle, of Masterton, for his services, and Mrs Beech, on whose property the trials were held. Short head and yard (open): J. Tait’s Daylight, 58 points, 1; C. Wiffin’s Star, 57 points, 2; C. J. McDonald’s Jean, 54 points, 3; C. P. Howard’s Cloud, 53 points, 4. Maiden: J. Smith’s Jan, 33 points, 1; Mrs Hovard’s Jess, 31 points, 2; J. Gibson’s Flo, 30g points, 3. Class 3, zig-zag hunt (open): S. Herbert’s Boy, 40 points, 1; F. Luscombe’s Sandy, 38 points, 3; R Harman’s Tim, 37 points, 4. Maiden: R. Harman’s Tim, 37 points, 1; C. Ferrick’s Tip, 35 points, 2; K. Hanson’s Tip, 34£ points. Straight hunt: T. Burgess’s Jock, 42 points, 1; P. Hendrickson’s Dark, 40 points, 2; W. Falconer’s Glen, 37 points, 3; W. Bain’s Fly, 36 points, 4. Novice (Russ Merrie’s trophy): W. Clark’s Lass, 28 points, 1. The following are the trophy winners: —Barraclough Special: G. Thomson’s Speed. W. Smyth Cup: J.
