CENTRAL SCHOOL DANCE

LARGE ATTENDANCE OF PUBLIC ON SATURDAY NIGHT. The first of the 1939 fortnightly series of old time dances under the auspices of the Central School Parents’ Association was held in the school assembly hall on Saturday evening. The popularity of these dances with the general public during the last three years was again demonstrated by a fully crowded hall and the dancers thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the evening’s entertainment. Under the capable control of Mr W. R. Nicol, who acted as M.C., everything went with a happy swing from start to finish. Splendid music was supplied by Barnes’s Orchestra, which, with Mr E. Coddington, played the necessary extras. The Monte Carlo competition was won by Miss I. Dale and Mr Wallace. An excellent supper was served by members of the ladies’ committee. The evening terminated with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and “God Save the King.” The next dance will be held on May 6.
