The Press hails talks between Count Ciano and M Markovitch. the Yugoslavian Foreign Minister, as the forerunner of permanent peace in Central Europe. The talks are reported to have produced a complete reaffirmation of Italian-Yugoslav political collaboration and an atmosphere of great cordiality. Signor Gayda, in the “Voce D’ltalia. says: “The meeting consecrates peace in the Adriatic. Yugoslavia has every reason to associate herself with the Axis. The talks definitely disperse attempts to woo her into a risky venture against Italy and Germany.” A communique, issued after the talks, says it was agreed to intensify Italian-Yugoslav collaboration, and also that between Yugoslav and Germany. both politically and economically, in order to preserve peace and improve conditions of stability in the Danubian region. Regarding Hungary, Ministers are pleased to discover that recent developments have paved the way for a profitable understanding between Belgrade and Budapest.
