TWO COLLISIONS
ACCIDENTS IN QUEEN STREET LAST NIGHT. BOTH OCCUR AT SAME SPOT. The corner of Queen Street and Church Street was the scene of two accidents last night involving motor vehicles. The first accident occurred just before 9 o’clock, when there ,vas a collision between a car driven by Mr J. R. Barr, of Colombo Road and another car driven by Mr E. F. Gorringe. It appears that Mr Barr, after having travelled northward along Queen Street, was turning into Church Street, and the other car was proceeding along Queen Street in a southerly direction when the accident occurred. As the result of the impact Mr Barr’s car was slewed round and struck a verandah post at the H.B. corner, the post being broken. Mrs Barr, who was a passenger in Mr Barr’s car, suffered somewhat from shock, and was conveyed to Dr H. B. Berney's surgery for treatment, and later to her home. Mr Gorringe was the sole occupant of the other car. Both vehicles were considerably damaged.
The second accident occurred at 10.25 o’clock, the circumstances being almost identical. As a car driven by Mr C. A. Scott, of College Street, was turning into Church Street, a collision occurred between his car and a motor cycle proceeding south along Queen Street, and ridden by Mr A. J, Henderson, of St. Matthew's School. Mr Henderson suffered slight abrasions to his left knee. The vehicles were only slightly damaged.
