KAIPARORO RIFLE CLUB. SEASON'S TROPHY WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The final championship shoot was fired twice over the 800 and 900 yards ranges recently. The Championship Cup was won by Rifleman L. Welch, with a total of 452.
Other cups and trophies were won by the following riflemen: —Handicap Championship Cup, Rifleman R. Braddick, 470. Runner-up Championship Cup, Rifleman O. Walton, 445. Runnerup Handicao Championship Cup, Rifleman L. Welch, 468. Mr A. Hansen’s Possible Trophy, Rifleman O. Walton. Mr G. Dick’s Trophy completed over the first 800 and 900 yards, Rifleman P. Henson, 236. Mr G. Braddick’s trophy completed over the second 800 and 900 yards, Rifleman K. Henson, 236. Details of the shooting were as follow, the order of the table being: 800 yards, handicap, 900 yards, handicap, championship total, handicap total:—
TARARUA RIFLE CLUB. MUSKETRY COURSE.
The following scores were registered by the Tararua Rifle Club when competing in the annual musketry course, which also counts for the Greathead Cup. This was won by Rifleman C. E. Sigvertsen with a score; of 128.- The scores were as follow:--
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. MEETING AT RONGOKOKAKO. At the monthly meeting of the Rongokokako Institute Mrs Sigvertsen presided over a good attendance. One new member was welcomed. Mrs J. Payne gave a very interesting demonstration of smocked aprons and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Competitions were won as follow;— Potato competition, Mrs Byers 1, Mrs R. Farrow 2. Wits and bits (J yard of material), Mrs J. Payne 1, Mrs M. Morriss 2. Best bloom. Mrs Oliver (polyanthus rose) 1, Mrs J. Drysdale (rose) 2. A musical item was won by Miss L. Morriss. The competitions were judged by Mrs and Miss Dick, Hastwells. After a dainty afternoon tea had been served by the hostesses, Mrs and Miss P. Littler and Miss E. Sigvertsen, the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. Church Services. The Rev. D. McNeur, of Masterton will conduct Presbyterian Church services tomorrow as under: —Kaiparoro, 1.30 p.m.; Eketahuna, 3 p.m.; Alfredton, 7 p.m. Capable Football Secretary. The excellent work carried out by the secretary, Mr O. G. Reynolds, was the subject of eulogistic comment at the annual meeting of the Old Boys’ Football Club. Mr Reynolds is not only a capable secretary, but he infuses an enthusiasm into his work which inspires the other members with the desire to do the best possible for the club, which, with such a splendid set of officers, should experience a successful season.
