FEILDING SALE. BEEF PRICES ADVANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, April 21. Yesterday’s rain came too late to have any effect on the Feilding stock sale which was held today, the market remaining quiet with prices, unchanged. Beef prices, however, were an exception, an advance being shown on last week’s prices, which had recovered from a low figure. No fat lambs were yarded. The store sheep entry was very light and confined almost to lambs. Station cattle sold at figures indicative of the prevailing conditions, but were better, nevertheless, than some reported from other centres. Quotations are: — Sheep: Prime ewes, Ils 7d to 13s; second grade, 8s Id to 9s; best wethers, 21s to 22s 3d; medium to prime, 18s 6d to 19s 3d; unfinished, 16s 4d to 18s; ewe lambs, good, 18s; small, 12s 9d to 13s 6d; culls, 8s to 10s; wethers, 10s; good b.f., 13s; others, 9s 9d; two-tooth wethers, 13s 6d; fattening ewes, 6s to 10s. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at the Carterton sale yesterday. Prices were on a par with those ruling at late sales and practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer. T,he following are some of the realisations: — Sheep: 2-th. ewes, r.w. Romney rams, to 21s 6d; fat wethers, to 16s 9d; f. and f. b.f’s., to 15s; woolly ewe lambs, to 13s 9d; woolly wether larribs, 10s 6d to Ils; b.f. lambs, 9s to 10s Id. Cattle: Ayrshire cow, just calved, to £l2; Jersey heifers, just calved, toj £7 15s; Jersey heifers, on drop, to £7 15s; fat cows, £4 to £5 2s; forward cows, £2 10s to £3 15s; store cows, 38s to £2 6s; cull cows, to 30s; cows and calves, £2 15s to £4 10s; vealers, to £2 6s.
