STATE HOUSING

NEW ZEALAND SCHEME CRITICISED. COSTS CONSIDERABLY LOWER IN SOUTH AFRICA. II ■■■■.< By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. SYDNEY, April 21. Mr E. J. Nason, a retired Cape Town contractor, who arrived today from a visit to New Zealand, spoke unfavourably of the New Zealand Government’s housing scheme, and said that it could not be compared with similar work being carried but in South Africa, where costs were not nearly so high. He added that three or four-roomed houses in New Zealand costing between £BOO to £l2OO, could be built in South Africa for about half that amount, also of brick instead of wood.
