AUSTRALIAN PROBLEM SIR EARLE PAGE’S POSITION. MAY RESIGN LEADERSHIP OF COUNTRY PARTY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. MELBOURNE, April 21. Mr R. G. Menzies returned to Melbourne today. He had a rousing reception from his friends at the station, including a piper to do the proper Scottish honours. He will devote the weekend to selecting his new Ministry. Meanwhile the speech by Sir Earle Page -in the House of Representatives on Thursday has produced a profound reaction in the Country Party which is seeking a means of resolving amicably me uncomfortable situation. At a meeting of the council of the New South Wales Country Party to be held on Monday Sir Earle Page may submit nis resignation as leader of rhe party. In that event the popular choice is Mr Cameron, PostmasterGeneral in the Lyons Ministry. If Mr Cameron obtains the leadership, it is thought that the prospects of forming another coalition Government would be improved. Mr Menzies said today that the next move regarding a coalition was obviously not with him. Mr Menzies’s Cabinet will have 15 members and their names will be announced on Monday. It is known that some members of the Cabinet whom Mr Menzies will appoint will be warned when appointed that they will lose their positions if a coalition is formed. It has been stated that Mr W. M. Hughes, Attorney-General and Minister cf External Affairs in the Lyons Ministry, win not accept office with Mr Menzies, but there is no confirmation of this report.
