MAURICEVILLE
HEAVY FALL OF RAIN. ("Times-Age” Special.) Mauriceville has experienced a very heavy downpour of rain and during the past 24 hours up till 9 o’clock this morning 225 points tell. The pastures will benefit to a considerable extent as the result of the rain, though in some instances it has come, perhaps, too late to be of the fullest benefit. Forest Downs Golf Club. The annual opening day of the Forest Downs Golf Club was held recently when a large number of visitors from neighbouring clubs were present. In her opening address the President (Miss G. Heckler) welcomed the mem bers and visitors and after explaining that, on account of the prolonged spell of dry weather, several of the greens were in a somewhat indifferent state for play, she wished everyone a pleasan' afternoon and a successful season’s play. ' 1 A mixed foursome was then played resulting in a win, after a play-off, for Miss Welch and Mr C. R. Judd. A Stableford played for the men was won by C. B. Cameron.
