GREYTOWN
SITTING OF S.M. COURT. ("Times-Age” Special.) Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided at the ordinary sitting of the Greytown S.M. Court on Wednesday. Mabel Marks obtained judgment against Tip Love for £2 15s with costs Bs. On a judgment summons J. Higgins was ordered to pay the estate of A. W. Balfour the sum of £3 17s, in default four day’s imprisonment. Esmond H. Doherty was convicted and fined £2 with costs 10s for having been unlawfully on licensed premises after hours.
Jack Hayes was fined £1 with costs 10s for having defective lights on his motor cycle, and for having driven q motor cycle and not showing consideration for other users of the road he was fined £1 with costs 10s and his driver’s license cancelled for three months. Donald Cranks was fined £3 with costs 10s for speeding through Greytown.
C. Tjl. Mark was fined 5s with costs 10s fdr having driven a heavy, motor vehicle without having an appropriate driver’s license. For having driven at a speed exceeding 25 miles per hour' he was firmed £3 with costs 10s, and for having failed to carry a warrant of fitness in his motor lorry, he was fined 10s with costs 10s. Norris Frank Marshall, of Masterton, was convicted and fined £lO with costs 10s for being in charge of a motor car while intoxicated. His driver’s license was cancelled and he was prohibited from obtaining another driver’s license for 18 months. In this case his wife actually was driving, but she did not have a driver’s license. Death of Mr T. E. Groube. .„? •
The death occurred at the Greytown Hospital on Thursday morning of Thomas George Groube, of Greytown, at the age of 75 years. The late Mr Groube was borne at Johnsonville and came to the Wairarapa as a boy. He resided at Carterton for many years and followed the occupation of sawmilling and farm worker. About thirtyfive years ago he came with his wife to live in Greytown. Since the death of his wife 12 months ago Mr Groube has been in indifferent health. The late Mr Groube was a member of the Forester’s Lodge at Carterton. Messrs Fred Groube' (Matarawa), Cecil (Carterton), Frank (Masterton), and William (Auckland) are brothers, and Mrs Anderson, of Halcombe, is a sister. The funeral takes place on Saturday.
