PERSONAL

The Hon W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, returned to Wellington from the South Island' yesterday. Mr W. R. Nicol and A. Donald were yesterday re-appointed the Wellington Education Board’s representatives on the Wairarapa College Board of Governors. Mr W. G. Holloway, at present Town Clerk at Taihape, has been appointed from 41 applicants to a similar position in Dannevirke, to succeed Mr G. T. O’Hara Smith, who has been appointed Town Clerk at Masterton. At yesterday's meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board, Dr Archer Hosking, who recently resigned from the position of Medical Superintendent, was appointed an honorary consultant at the Masterton Hospital. Mr F. H. Long, son of Mr and Mrs W. H. Long, of Church Street, left on Monday by the “Waimarawa” with seven other Air Force officers to complete his training in the Royal Air Force in England. Mr Long had three months training at Rongatai, and seven months at Wigram, and now goes to England for a period of five years’ service.

The Hon R. Semple, Minister' of Public Works, left Wellington by motor-car this morning on an inspection of Public Works’ activities in the Wellington, Taranaki and North. Island central districts. He will proceed to New Plymouth tonight and stay there tomorrow. On Saturday he will continue as far as Kawhia. He is due at Taumarunui on Monday, and expects to return to Wellington on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister, the Rt Hon M. J. Savage, will leave Wellington for Auckland by the Limited Express on Sunday night. Auckland manufactui - ing establishments will be inspected on Monday and again on Wednesday. On Tuesday Mr Savage will attend the Auckland Anzac Day dawn parade, and he will lay a wreath on the Cenotaph on behalf of the New Zealand Government. The Prime Minister will return to Wellington on Thursday morning.' _
